Introducing Support Plan
Our first public release was six years ago. Since then, we've provided bug fixes, new features and tech support to all users at no additional cost. This was made possible by a steady revenue flow from new users, which funded my own and Ida's (@idaot
on Discord) work, hired translators to localize the documentation, and even sponsored community events like game jams.
Unfortunately, over the past two years, we've observed a troubling decline in revenue. If this trend continues, it threatens both our ability to provide support and the future development of Naninovel.
In similar situations, Asset Store publishers often introduce paid upgrades, requiring users to pay for new releases and continued support, or increase product prices. I'd like to avoid such measures, as they affect hobbyists and small indie developers, who are usually not in a position to spend more on tools like Naninovel.
Instead, I'm asking businesses that rely on Naninovel and are already generating substantial profit to invest a little to help us sustain operations.
What is the Support Plan?
The Support Plan is a subscription service offering dedicated support and direct, private communication with our team for $100/month.
Here's how it works:
- While subscribed, all the Discord users associated with your Naninovel account are granted
Support Plan Active
role. - The
#support
channel on Discord is now accessible only to users with the support role. - Requests in the channel are addressed within 24 hours on business days.
- Users with the role can also create private threads for confidential communication with our team.
Subscription is managed on the account dashboard: account.naninovel.com/support.
What About Non-Subscribers?
This change is designed to minimize the impact on users who cannot or do not wish to subscribe. Non-subscribers can still use the #general
and #devtalk
channels or forums to ask questions and report bugs. However, we can no longer guarantee responses for these cases.
Please note that this doesn't mean we won't respond to non-subscribers at all! As long as we can fund our support service, it will be available to all users. The only difference is that we commit to addressing every request from users subscribed to the Support Plan before handling requests from others.
Why Subscribe?
Even if your business doesn't currently require dedicated support, subscribing to the Support Plan is a meaningful way to contribute to Naninovel's sustainability. Your support ensures we can continue developing the engine, providing resources, and fostering a thriving community. By subscribing, you're not just securing your own access to premium support—you're investing in the future of Naninovel for everyone.
