Just wanted to say that I made a quick text printer extension that shows the live character prefab in the printer itself. This way, you don't have to bother with avatar resources - it's just pulled from the character prefab. You point a camera at the character, and it automatically shows their expression.

Works with animations and lip sync (and presumably 3D models), too! The project is fully open-source (although the characters inside are copyrighted, and just examples).
